Quick answer
What is a residential proxy?
A residential proxy routes your request through the internet connection of a home, so the site sees an IP from a consumer broadband provider in that country, such as e& in the UAE or WE in Egypt, rather than a data centre. MENA Proxies sells residential proxies in 14 MENA countries from $1.88 for 1 GB, as of October 2026, with no KYC.
Proxy terms
- Residential IP
An IP address that a consumer internet provider assigns to a home connection. Sites see it as an ordinary household.
- Rotating proxy
A proxy that gives an IP from the pool on each new connection, usually a different one. Useful for reading many pages, each from a different home.
- Sticky session
A setting that keeps the same IP for a set time, set in the username with a session ID and a duration. At MENA Proxies: up to 30 minutes (the IP can change earlier).
- Static residential proxy (ISP proxy)
A fixed IP registered to a consumer ISP but usually hosted in a data centre, rented per IP for weeks or months. MENA Proxies does not sell them; see static vs rotating.
- Dedicated mobile port
One 4G/5G modem with one SIM, used by a single customer, whose IP changes when the customer rotates it.
- Gateway
The server you connect to, here
gw.menaproxies.com, which forwards each request to an exit IP in the country you chose.- HTTP CONNECT and SOCKS5
The two proxy protocols the gateway accepts. HTTP CONNECT carries HTTPS traffic through an HTTP proxy; SOCKS5 carries any TCP traffic and can pass the hostname to the proxy instead of resolving it on your machine.
- Remote DNS
Sending the hostname to the proxy, which resolves it, instead of resolving it on your computer. In curl:
--socks5-hostname; in Python requests:socks5h://(needspip install "requests[socks]").- Sub-user
A second set of proxy credentials under one account, with its own usage totals, used to separate clients or projects.
- Geo-targeting
Choosing the country, and the city when IPs are online there, of the exit IP. At MENA Proxies it goes in the username:
country-ae,city-dubai.
Network and location terms
- ASN (autonomous system number)
The number that identifies an operator's network on the internet, such as AS5384 for e& in the UAE or AS8452 for WE in Egypt. An IP lookup shows it.
- Geolocation database
A database that maps IP addresses to countries and cities. Different databases can place the same IP in different cities; see how to check a proxy's location.
- ccTLD
A country-code top-level domain, such as .ae, .sa or .eg. Google has redirected its country domains, such as google.ae, to google.com since April 2025.
- Fixed wireless access (5G home router)
Home internet delivered over a mobile network to a router, common in the Gulf. Such homes can show an IP from an operator that also runs a mobile network.
